Baptism washes away what’s known as “original sin” and is the means by which we are made God’s own children.  A session of catechesis (instruction) is required for first-time parents and god-parents.  Registered parishioners at the Cathedral must have been registered and active in the life of the parish for a minimum of six months.  Catholics from other parishes seeking to baptize at the Cathedral should furnish a statement of active status at their parish and completion of required catechesis, unless other arrangements have been made.
