Can anyone attend Parish Advisory Council or Finance Committee meetings?
These meetings are not really “open forums,” or “decision-making” bodies, but rather advisory boards to the Rector. Sometimes folks might have a suggestion for something in the life of the parish… by all means, contact the Rector or one of the priests directly, or perhaps another staff person in the department where you may have an idea. The Parish Advisory Council is not a grievance or arbitration board… again, Christians handle conflicts intelligently and charitably. And, it’s been noted, when people ask intelligent questions of the right person… they’ll always get a reasonable answer! Just FYI, Finance Committee members (all of whom are ordinary parishioners) review all aspects of parish finances each month… basic Cathedral finances are published monthly in the bulletin… and “the books” are, in fact, open to inquiring parishioners!
