Sometimes individuals wish to make what’s called a “restricted gift.” These are monies that the donor him/herself restricts for a special purpose. Some examples include maintenance and upkeep, music ministry, adult education programs, Cathedral renovation projects, and the like. In this instance, the Cathedral is canonically (Church Law) bound to expend those monies in the endeavor restricted by the donor. The Cathedral may NOT restrict gifts… that is up to the donor. If you are interested in making such a gift, please contact Phil Lester at 602-242-1300 X114.
Such gifts are acknowledged formally and may be tax deductible for the donor.
HAD AN UNEXPECTED WINDFALL?? – “Windfall” is unexpected wealth that’s come our way without our perhaps realizing it or doing anything to earn it! When the tax return arrives… the stock pays an unexpected dividend… we inherited an oil well… got a promotion… won the lottery… whatever it may be. It is the grateful heart that pleases the Lord. Remember your Cathedral by giving a portion to the Lord in gratitude for an unexpected windfall and prosperity… and perhaps designate it for a special purpose… check out the wish list.
WISH LIST: flooring/improvements for Smith Hall, landscaping for north side of Cathedral property (Maryland Avenue stretch), north side altar in the Cathedral (rendition of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Joseph), “Life House” (Youth Center) repairs and renovation, parking lot (re-pave, landscape), south side altar (Pentecost scene), Sacred Heart shrine (outdoors), Pipe Organ fund, benches for courtyard. If you would like to designate a gift for a special purpose, please contact Phil Lester 602-242-1300 X114.
