First Penance & Reconciliation – Confession of sins in this sacrament is the only ordinary means by which Catholics are forgiven of serious sin and reconciled to God and the Church.  (See section on “Be Accountable” for guide to sacrament – more for adults).  Children are prepared for this sacrament prior to celebrating their First Holy Communion and Confirmation.  Registered parishioners at the Cathedral must have been registered and active in the life of the parish for a minimum of six months prior to seeking enrollment in sacramental preparation programs.
