A parish is a geographical reality, as the Church is a structured organized society living in time. Parishes, even diocese, can change, can come and go… but the reality of the Church remains, as Our Lord promised, until He returns in glory!
A parish priest is charged with the responsibility of caring for all the souls residing within his parish boundaries. Of course, not everyone who’s a part of the parish may live within the boundaries… mobility is a modern reality, too!
Ss. Simon & Jude Cathedral parish boundaries… on the west, 35th Avenue; on the east, 7th Avenue; on the north side, Northern Avenue; and on the south, Camelback Road. Within this territory reside almost 40,000 souls… statistically, about 25% of the population is Catholic… so ostensibly, there are 10,000 Catholics living within our parish boundaries.
Whether you live in the boundaries or not… we’d love for you to be a part of the family. Registration is easy, and helps us to get to know one another a bit. Registration and active participation in the Liturgy is necessary for enrollment in Catholic schools, catechetical programs and sacramental preparation.
